In Flames, Jesper Stronbald, la band Gardenian è dedita al death metal melodico ( genere nato prioprio a Gothenburg).Nel 2000 firmarono un contrato con la Nuclear Blast e registrarono il loror primo album, "Soulburner".L'album fu registrato con l'aiuto di Sabrina Kihlstrand, cantante dei Ice Age. In Flames e altre famose band svedesi. Nel 2004 la band cambiò nome in Kerozene e la line-up cambiò radicalmente e nessuno dei fondatori della band vi rimase.
